She got so close to Edward Gal’s world record of 92.3% but who’s worrying about that after an awesome ride by the olympic champions Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro. They hardly put a foot wrong in their freestyle to the music they used in London last year. The score of 91.25% says it all. Absolutely amazing performance for first place. There was so little between the top riders at Herning. It is a joy to watch these performances. Will keep going back to them for the inspiration and challenge. Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill rode a brilliant test for their second place in the freestyle.

Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro completed a clean sweep of the Herning European Dressage Championships last night with another amazing performance that saw them as clear winners in the Grand Prix Freestyle. Their score of 91.250% put them four points ahead of Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill on 87.286%. In third place was Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival – 86.393%.

Brilliant riding again from Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro who took out the Grand Prix Special at Herning, Denmark in the European Dressage Championships with a score of 85.699%. Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill took out second with 84.330% and Adelinde Cornellissen and Parzival slipped into third place with 81.548%.
It seems even these guys get a touch of the nerves and make errors of course! This made the final result even closer.
Another record for Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro today at the European Dressage Champs. Her score of 85.942% beats her London Olympic score in the Grand Prix, and her previous record of 84.447% at the London International Horse Show at Olympia. Great ride too from Helen Langehanenberg and Damon Hill on a score of 84.377% and in second place.
Here are the top 12 scores so far. Congratulations to Patrik Kittel and Toy Story with 73.283%. Lyndal Oatley will be happy with hubbie and even more with Toy!
Germany in first place, in the team event, with Netherlands and Great Britain in second and third – very close indeed!
Five more combinations to go in this huge field of over sixty. That would be a judging challenge……:-)
